Shrub or tree growing up to 5 meters, leaves are simple, alternate and shiny at the surface; flowers are terminal and axillary; yellow to various colors, 5 sepals with common base, stamens are indefinite in numbers but commonly as many as the petals, fruits; drupes. Native of Africa, probably introduced in the Philippines, cultivated for attractive flowers.

Small glaborous, crawling grass with creeping stems, roots protruding from it; leaves are alternate, tri-foliolate; leaflets, 3 to 20 or more, photosensitive; flowers, axillary, small, few, light yellow to yellow, sepals 5, imbricated; petals 5, fruits; capsulated. Common in waste lands, native to the tropics introduced to the Philippines.
