This plant is a clustering, graceful, free growing fern. Its leaves are green, hanging, pinnate, and to 90cm long. The leaflets are linear-lanceolate, and rather stiff. It was introduced to the Philippines after WWII. It is now widespread, and cultivated in gardens.
Nopalea cochenillifera
A fleshy, small to medium sized cactus, it grows to 2 m or more, and has round stems that are flat, dark green and glossy. Its leaves are small, with large flowers to 8cm long, 2.5 cm wide, rose or light rose. It is native to tropical South America. Introduced in the Spanish period, and widely distributed in the country.
