Large tree to 40cm tall. With prominent buttress when mature. Leaves are even pinnate. Leaflets are 4, rarely 2, opposite and to 10cm long. Flowers are small, pink or white, in terminal panicles and fragrant. Pods are thick, leathery, with round seeds. Native to Southeast Asia and the island of southwest Pacific. In the Philippines, common along sea shores and swamp borders, rarely along stream banks of primary forest. Occasionally planted in parks and gardens in Metro Manila. Propagated by seeds.
