Locally known as Gumi; Taulat; Ubod-ubod. An erect, tufted, slender, annual sedge up to 60 cm high, leaves; basal up to 40 cm in length, overlapping sheaths, longer than wide, blades are short, stems; flat, angled at the terminal region, inflorescence; divided into several parts, decompound, loosely diffused umbels up to10 cm long, spikelets; many, small, solitary, brown to pale brown, fruit; from a shade of ivory to brown, 3 ridges are intense on each side. In open wet grass lands, throughout the Philippines and in all warm countries.
