Locally known as Camantigue. An erect, succulent, fast growing, flowering annuals or perennial, sometimes branched herbs, leaves; up to 5 cm long, oval and pointed, margin is armed with soft bristles, alternate, tapers as it reach the base, attached to a slender petiole, flowers; axillary, showy, loose, flat, spurred, up to 3 cm long, in pink, white, red and purple varieties. petals are variegated, fruit; pubescent. Cultivated for its ornamental value, common in gardens throughout the Philippines and the tropics, a native of India. The color of its flowers indicate its cultivars, such as; "Cheers": flowers are coral, "Concerto": deep pink flowers and "Tango" for the orange flowering varieties.
Ixora sp.
The Ixora is a small shrub, to 3m tall. Its leaves are opposite, sessile, obovate, the base cuneate, fresh green above and pale green below. The flowers are in dense clusters. Several hybrids and cultivars were recently introduced to the country. The dwarf varieties are popular in gardens. There are 35 species endemic to the Phil,ippines with few cultivated in gardens. Most are native to tropical Asia.
